Introducing myself
My name is Abdulbaki Uzun, I am 29 years old and for more than nine years I have been happily married. I have a five-year-old kid, who became the center of my life.
I received my Master's degree in Computer Engineering from the Berlin University of Technology in March 2010. My major field of study was in the Business IT area at the department Systems Analysis and IT, where I have also completed a Systems Analysis project at Motorola Inc. with an outstanding performance. At the same time, I was very interested in Open Communication Systems, which was closely connected to my recent research activity at Fraunhofer FOKUS.
In my previous job at the Fraunhofer IZM, I learned a lot about modeling and simulation of power semiconductor modules, especially about the way of proceeding in a scientific research project. The conception, implementation and integration of E-Learning tools for the course “Project-oriented laboratory”, as well as the design of a knowledge database for Motorola Inc. widened my knowledge in web programming, scripting, and databases. My tasks as a web developer at Nokia Siemens Networks in the Test Lab Servers department consisted of the maintenance and further development of intranet sites and web tools as well as the implementation of tools and shell scripts under UNIX. Lastly, I was engaged as a student research assistant at Fraunhofer FOKUS, where I have worked on future enhancements for the SMART Recommendations Engine and the integration of it in several projects. Within this context, I wrote my Master thesis with the topic “Using a Semantic Multidimensional Approach to create a Contextual Recommender System”.
Deutsche Telekom was always a part of my academic and professional career. Due to my student job in the Event Management team of the Deutsche Telekom Laboratories I gained immense insight about how public relations work in an enterprise. At Fraunhofer FOKUS, I was highly involved in cooperative projects with the Deutsche Telekom. I was also one of 60 students all over Europe, who took part in the talent recruiting event “Talents in Touch 2009” in Barcelona. After the workshops, I got a positive feedback confirming my leadership and team skills.
In April 2010, I have joined Deutsche Telekom Laboratories again; this time as a research scientist in the strategic research area Service-centric Networking led by Prof. Dr. Axel Küpper. My tasks are the acquisition and management of projects, the further development of the college department and the work on my Ph.D. thesis.
